It is exactly as you see in the pictures, if you climb down many steps you get to the Castle and it is absolutely beautiful!!! The white buildings with the blue domes and the blue sea behind is stunning.

It's a nice little piece of history, and the walk through Oia to get there is beatiful. The castle itself isn't too interesting as most of it is "no entry", but the view from the castle is absolutely amazing. If you are in Oia you...More

A ruined castle, the focal point for watching the sunset, has great views over the Caldera. worth a visit but not at sunset, so busy

Visit this place for a photo shoot or sunset viewing during the evening. it gets bit crowded in the evening, so grab a place early if going for sunset.

It gets totally packed for the sunset. If you get there really early and get right at the front it would be amazing but there was so many people it was hard to get good photos without people's heads or selfie sticks in them! Very...More

Beautiful views for the sunset, but packed. Walk a few steps down towards Amoudi Bay for less people and a similar view!

The Castle ruins is just a pile of rocks, there must be some history behind it but for me all stars goes for the amazing views of Oia and sunset.

Oia is northwest of the Island where the Byzantine Castle Ruins are, and Akrotiri is in the southeast and you need to drive to get there. Enjoy your trip!
