...then you should check it out. A few original Hopper works, some notes and sketches and a small group of paintings from artists with similar styles from same time periods. The house self tour is interesting. If you have an interest in Hopper then you will appreciate it. Not necessarily a must see, but if in Nyack then certainly a... More

I learned a lot about Edward Hopper. I have always admired him but didn't know about him or his life. What was lacking was a lot of his personal art but what was added, especially with the wonderful Docent led tour, was a better understanding of him which I felt helped me understand his paintings more. A bonus, the wonderful,... More

The house where Edward Hopper spent the first 28 years of his life has been turned into small art center which gives a good insight into his life. The documentary narrated by Steve Martin gives a good insight into his work. There is little of his work there but they do have exhibits by other artists.

What a fantastic day trip from New York. Starting at that splendid railway railway station Grand Central it is a 45 minute journey, much of it running alongside the Hudson River. Get off at Tarrytown and take a bus over the Hudson to Nyack. On the Friday we went the town seemed deserted, perhaps it wakes up at the weekend.... More

As this is an historical spot––the artist Edward Hopper lived here—it's cool for that to be part of Nyack's artistic history. I used to attend a poetry workshop that was once held there. Still, at the Edward Hopper House, summer concerts take place.

While small and not having a real collection of Hopper artwork the museum was historically informative and did have an exhibit of contemporaries. Do not go out of your way but if you find yourself in Nyack and have a fondness for Hopper it is worth a visit. The house is in a lovely walking area of period homes.

The artist may have lived here many years ago but somehow I was disappointed by what was displayed here and never felt the artist here.
