Fun and exciting, but there are risks and you should be informed.

After reading a lot of the scary reviews warning of the dangers of this experience, I was very hesitant to try tubing in the Esopus with Town Tinker Tube Rental. After doing it, I... read more

Exciting and at times dangerous. Ask about the conditions and forecasts as things can change daily. This can be a really fun thing to do in Phoenicia.

Awesome. They give u tubes with a wooden seat to protect u from rocks. I've been going here for at least 10 years now.Great people, good prices. It's a great tubing experience.

Forecast was for highs in the low 90's, so we decided to go tubing. Had a great time, as the conditions were perfect: water depth/temp/velocity all ideal. The owner, Harry, and his wife were manning the fort. She explained all of the risks involved, and seemed genuinely concerned for our safety. There was zero wait time for the bus to... More

Should have done proper research before signing up for this.. All the nagtive reviews are true.. Understand that we signed the waiver, there are disclaimers about it not being a lazy-river ride.. BUT, what I cannot stomach is the lack of safety masures and empathy. My sister's leg got caught in a large rock and was almost drowned, we had... More

By far, one of the highlights of my summer was renting tubes from The Town Tinker and enjoying an invigorating ride down the Esopus Creek! Fun, but not too challenging, it was perfect for our group of mixed ages! I will recommend this great getaway to everyone looking for a day or weekend of fun and beauty in beautiful Phoenicia!... I am a well-fit man in his 40's who enjoys adventure. While I knew this was no "lazy river" experience, I did not expect something so dangerous and ill-run as this "adventure". Warning guests that it "is not a lazy river" is not going nearly far enough to warn folks of the dangers that can happen. The rapids are extremely... More

Awesome, no doubt, a real rush! But not for wimps or lovers of strict rules. I'll helmet next time. Yes, next time, because it was a blast!! Just a lot of rocks, and I did capsize, think it would be a smart [I know not sexy] choice. NO one seemed to be using one, but think it should be a... More

After reading a lot of the scary reviews warning of the dangers of this experience, I was very hesitant to try tubing in the Esopus with Town Tinker Tube Rental. After doing it, I understand why people wrote those reviews, however I don't think it is the company's fault. They certainly warn you that this is NOT A LAZY RIVER,... More

I am a very athletic 25 year old and I was very confident going in. They said that we could get bruised, but come on, it's tubing, right? NO. I capsized 5 times because they instructed to lean back which is absolutely not right. You have to cut into the waves, not lean back, or all the weight goes backwards.... More
