A great walkway which was wide ,clean and had many places to read about the history of this place. The amazing views and the tree colours were a real treat and we especially liked listening to the goods trains as they tooted along beneath us.

An excellent opportunity to take a leisurely walk/ride across the Hudson River and maybe picnic along the way and enjoy the scenic views both north an south of the bridge.

The walkway is a great way to get a view of the river. I recommend parking down below in Waryas Park and then walking north along the river and taking the elevator up.

This is a walkway that you can walk, jog, run, or take your bicycle. Dog friendly also. On hot days there is water available and clean restrooms. It closes at dusk each night so make sure you have plenty of time. There is also a handicap elevator for those in need. One of my favorite spots.

Highest pedestrian bridge in the world is worth a walk. If memory serves its about a mile and a half from one end to the other so its a good exercise option if you're in town!

This was a beautiful walk after breakfast. Even in winter, the sun kept us warm up here above the trees looking out across the Hudson River below and beyond the water to hills far off.

We visited Poughkeepsie on a snowy day. Since we were there- we decided to walk the Walkway any way. We are not sorry at all for that. It was beautiful and an unusual experience for us.The heavy snow- What an experience. Apart from us- the only tourists around- were a Bobcat driver that drove back and forth to take the... More

This is an old railroad bridge, built in 1889, that was converted to a walkway which crosses the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie, NY to Highland, NY. The bridge is 6,768 feet long with beautiful views of the magnificent Hudson River. Wonderful place to walk your dog, roller skate, ride your bike or just simply go for a stroll. There are... More

Happened to be in the area for the first-time and thought the Walkway over the Hudson would be excellent venue for my usual early morning jog. Woke up just before daybreak, so I could take in the view of the sun rising over the Hudson Valley. It was a very brisk December morning, so it was not crowded at all... More

A popular destination for families, cyclists, kids. Also educational--explanatory signs all along the way. Early weekday morning or cloudy, cool day the crowd is thin. Also check out the development along the waterfront under the bridge and some nice newer restaurants that are springing up.
