Whether you wish to go to the brewery, picnic or stroll about this is a local gem. Architecturally historic and profound, the Genesee River walk and good weather presents the visitor with lots of potential fun and activities.

Trail runs from Charlotte to downtown. Some parts are a boardwalk near and sometimes over the river offering great views.

The Genesee Riverway is a wonderful and beautiful trail-like path that can take you a very long distance. I used it only to follow along the Genesee in downtown Rochester, and even that little stretch was gorgeous. You can hike, bike, or take out your roller blades and just have at it. The curbs all have graded on-off "ramps" for... More

We started this bike ride at The Genesee Valley Park. We had the choice of ride either the Canal bike path or the Genesee riverway trail. We found out on the canal bike path, it was closed after 1.2 miles! It would have been nice to bike it longer, we turned back and picked up the Genesee riverway bike trail... More

Form the Charlotte pier south through the city or Rochester to the PA line this trail is great for all activity. I've covered every inch from the pier to Mt, Morris and it's a great place to walk, run, bike, ski or snowshoe. Even found horseback riders using the trail south of the city. You get everything from the lake,... More

The Genesee River Trail is a delightful way to see Rochester and nature. The intermingling of river, waterfalls, deer, turkey, and sky-scrapers is something I will never forget.

We ride on the Erie Canal every year, but this year decided to start in Rochester on the Riverway trail and then hook into the Erie Canal towards Fairport. It's a great trip, and nice to stay in downtown Rochester. The only negative is that the signposting could be much better to show how to get from the riverway trail... More

We have biked several portions of this, including one by Genesee Valley Park, which is lovely. Most recently we started at Cheltenham Street and rode down to the lake. Turning Point Park is especially nice--a peaceful place to hear bullfrogs and birds and to look at historic photos of what was there in the 60s.
