Built in 1824, the original lighthouse tower was almost destroyed during the Civil War, fell into disrepair, rebuilt in 1870, and now is open to the public as a maritime museum and library.

The light house is a small museum. But you can learn a lot about the area's history and about maritime history on lake Ontario. They have special events, such as concerts on the lawn every Sunday during the summer.

This is where I watched my mother marry her high school sweetheart! It was beautiful and very classy! Despite the wind, it was a next-to-perfect location! Amazing views!
