We utilize the boardwalk and its extensions on both sides for our walking and getting the fresh ocean air. The length of the boardwalk is about 5 miles. That includes the paved section, next to Miller Fields. Rarely is it crowded, unless you happen to hit some sort of festivity going on. Great at night, when the place become isolated... More

If you enjoy the beach this is a very good choice. There is parking and a nice boardwalk with some shops bathrooms etc.

They've been trying to revitalize this for years with limited success. It should be turned over to a private entity to bring some life back to it. Why they don't have bike rentals here is a shame. Also whats with the Dolphin Statue?

Literally the food stands are so sad it might as well have a therapy office on the boardwalk. There's nothing to do and when there is events the cops block a majority of the Parking and barely handle the increase of traffic. There's one restaurant in the boardwalk. No stores. Nothing fun. The water is disgusting and I'd rather walk... More

The FDR boardwalk is a fun day to be near the beach with lots of options. You can ride your bike along the boardwalk and you can continue your ride along the beach-side path past Miller Field. You can also enjoy a nice walk or just grab a seat on a bench and enjoy a nice book.

in the past the south beach area was considered dirty and water filthy but have things changed. water is much cleaner with views of vz bridge and if lucky whales have been seen lately. the boardwalk has food stands so great time for kids and family alike.

Being a regular beach goer, a native of Vs. Beach, the Staten Island Boardwalk was quite a unique boardwalk experience. I loved the access to walk or ride bikes along the shoreline. There was a cute little snack shack for a quick drink, ice cream, or even French fries, pizza, etc. Also, a fine dining restaurant if you like to try.... More

We are there almost every evening(weather permitting). Nice place to walk with family. Fresh air, breeze gets your mind of busy work day. There are times i take a bike ride from ebbits ave all the way to VZ bridge( work out). Feels very safe. I just wish beaches were better equipped.

Free parking, restrooms, and access to the beach were my three reasons for checking out this beach, but the kiddie playground, baseball and soccer fields, and concessions make the place an all-day-worthy event. Swimming beaches have lifeguards during summers from 10am-6pm, and there's plenty of shoreline to fish, sunbathe, and walk - all handicap accessible. I enjoyed 5 miles walking... More
