Nice park. I camped hear one night while visiting the area and hiking here and in other near by parks. Tent campsite was adequate, clean bathrooms with showers. It did take a minute for the water to warm up but once it did never got...More

I arrived at the Falls scenic overlook, about 6pm. The info office had just closed. The vantage point was impressive to see the waterfall; but, if I'd wanted to hike all the way down, I needed more time. There were trail markers indicating other entry...More

Taughannock Falls was one of our favorite places to go when we lived in Ithaca and it is still as beautiful and peaceful as it was 20 years later. We weren't able to walk to the falls bur went to the overlook and enjoyed it...More

One of the better park areas that have been to. Ample picnic area and a vast activity area right on the lake shore. A quick stroll across the street and you are on the gorge trail with about a mile or so walk in to...More

Not far from Ithaca. Only takes an hour in and out. Well worth the short drive and walk. If you only have time to see this or Watkins Glen though, choose the Glen.

Start by reviewing the falls from an overlook but do not pass up the 3/4 mile hike both ways to see the falls more close up. A beauty of nature not to be passed up. Crowded on week-ends. $8 for parking.

I'm originally from upstate NY but hadn't been to these falls until I went back on a visit with my family. Such a pretty place and worth a walk to the falls. It takes you back to a different time when you can easily imagine...More

You will find yourself on a wide gravel/dirt walking trail, about 1.5 miles round trip. It is a largely shaded trail that follows the water to a dramatic 200 foot waterfall at the end of the trail that makes the walk worthwhile. The walk is...More

We hiked the gorge trail out and back and then we did the north and south rim trails for a nice 4.1 miles or so. We got there about nine on a weekday and hardly saw another person. The gorge walk is really quite easy,...More

The hike to the falls is a wide, flat, easy trail with forest and canyon on either side. Very easily walked with a stroller. The falls are big, loud, and misty, framed by rocky canyon and accented by a colony of northern rough-winged swallows darting...More

We will be camping here in a couple of weeks. We enjoy walking through the waters in the gorge. Will we be able to do so?!

As others have said, we have had a lot of rain so there is a lot of water rushing through the gorge. I don't think walking through the water is either safe or allowed.
With the flooding in the area will we have a problem with roads? Will we be able to walk the base on Monday 4/10/17

No problems at all! A tiny bit muddy in some areas but the roads are all clear. Perfect time to go because of the extra water!

When camping at this park, does someone in your group have to be 18 to reserve a campsite? Do they check ID when youre checking in?
