Recently visited the Gardens and had a good day enjoying them as they are beautiful and the Golden pheasants and Red squirrels that live there made it even more special for us. I have put average as the lack of information about the plants growing...More

The gardens are lovely to walk around, very interesting, loved the ship figureheads. A visit to the cafe is a must, food was great and outside seating area a lovely place to sit.

Visited here while on holiday, a really relaxing place and very knowledgeable staff who were willing to give information about the plants on show, thanks to Andrew for the information! Entertaining red squirrels, good cafe for lunch or a cream tea.

Remarkable steeply terraced garden on the southwest side of the Abbey house since 1850s - interesting trees and plants from the other 'mediterranean' ecosystems of the world, especially South Africa. Frost or snow is very rare. Unmissable having got here, but be prepared for the...More

We were fortunate to be guided around these beautiful gardens by the Head Gardener who was most informative and passionate about his work and spent almost two hours showing us such a wide range of plants, trees from around the world. The weather was good...More

How lucky were we on a sunny day with no wind! We arrived by Marco Polo to be ferried ashore on Tresco by local tenders and met by jeeps to drive half-a-mile to the entrance though most chose to walk. Entry was £15 for non-group...More

The Tresco gardens are beautiful and well worth a visit. Take time to wander and enjoy the whole ambience. It is amazing to feel the history of the gardens and marvel at the imagination and innovation that established them. A good cafe and shop as...More

Although some might complain at the £15 ticket to visit the gardens, I felt it was worth every penny. To see so many stunning plants from warmer climates in full bloom is a rare privilege in the UK. The intensity of planting and the depth...More

Undoubtedly the collection of exotic plants here is impressive- and the gardens as a whole are mature and well tended. However, there is a disappointing lack of information about the varieties growing; and no guidance about what to see or how to tour the gardens...More

I am not sure about any of this as we stayed in St Marys. when you land in St Marys there are plenty of boards up detailing boat trips etc.

Hi, We have recently moved to Cornwall and can travel to Tresco at any time of year. What month would you recommend to see Abbey Garden at its best?

We were there in August and learned that we are probably no gardening people. We spent about the same amount of time in the garden as we did at the Valhalla museum.

Is it possible to see the squirrels without having to visit the gardens? That is, do they live anywhere outside the pay-zone? I'm visiting Scilly next year for the first time, not a plant freak but like wildlife. Just come back from a hotel in the Lake District where they visit the garden for free!

Hi Oldpigsqueal, The red squirrels tend to stay around the garden but you do sometimes see them near the garden entrance and around the Garden Cafe... Even if you're not a plant fan, the Garden is still well worth a visit... More
