I was looking forward to being able to go inside this lighthouse. It was closed and locked, the day after Labor Day. It is a historic stone lighthouse. We hope to be able to go back one day.

We actually stumbled across the lighthouse by pure chance. We were driving along the interstate & happened across it. There's a small gas statiin kiddy-corner from it & we actually stopped there first, to refuel & go to the bathroom. (Which FYI, they didn't have...More

Thank you for the review and so glad you found the lighthouse! We've spent the last couple years getting it fixed up and opening the cottage to the public. We hope to rehabilitate the tower as well in the near future to allow ascent to...More

I didn't expect to be able to see the inside of the lighthouse as in the past it has been closed up so it was a nice surprise to be able to step inside and look up at the spiral stairs. The little museum in...More

So glad you stopped! We are working hard to make this piece of history available to the public. Hopefully, we'll be able to get funding to fix the structural issues and make it safe for everyone to climb to the top in the future! The...More

This lighthouse is different than most the spiral staircase is all wood which I've never seen before. Your not allowed to climb up to the top but your allowed to step inside and look up at the staircase, it's pretty impressive. What did you want...More

Thank you for you review! The staircase is absolutely amazing, but also part of the reason we can't currently allow ascent to the top by the public; the stair are rotten, particularly the high up ones. Because of the unique constructions, being mortared right into...More

The historic lighthouse is well-preserved, but probably not worth more than 15 minutes of your time. The stairs are blocked off, so it's really only good for a couple of pictures. Head over to the adjacent harbor pier ... you can park your car and...More

Thank you for the review. You are correct in that the lighthouse is not currently ascend-able due to structural issues that we are working on. We do hope to eventually have public access to the top. Did you have an opportunity to enter the Keeper's...More

Thank you for your review! Currently, due to structural issues with the stairs and tower, ascent is not permitted. However, we do hope to make repairs and allow public ascent in the future. Hope you return in the future to experience that.

Not much to see but a nice local stop. There are some artifacts, pictures of local Inns, taverns. If you have the chance to go into the old light house, it has a interesting stone wall configuration. It does need some professional repair help. The...More

Thank you for the review! The Chautauqua County Historical Society has been instrumental in creating the exhibits you saw. The tower has been through a structural engineering analysis and yes, it does need help though it's in relatively good shape for its age and that...More
