We love lighthouses and have been here several times. The little gift shop is nice but a tight space for many folks. You have to buy your tickets there to climb the lighthouse. We made the trek up the 108 steps. There are resting landings...More

Wish this island had more history sites! There is some great history, as you'll read about in the one room of the lighthouse that has some displays, but it's so limited. But this is a must-see when you visit.

I absolutely adore lighthouses! And Old Baldy was on my list for North Carolina. I have seen all of them now, save for Cape Lookout. Hubby and I took the Bald Island ferry - a nice 20 minute crossing. No cars are allowed on the...More

Absolutely love Old Baldy! The admission was only $6 each to enter the museum and lighthouse. Old Baldy is the oldest lighthouse in NC with an incredible view. The climb up was not too strenous however, I would be very cautious with small children. Highly...More

Thank you so much for taking the time to review Old Baldy Lighthouse! We are small but pack a lot of history into our historic site.

Visit the museum and learn about this great lighthouse that seems to light up the entire island at night. It has been lovingly kept up!

On our trip to BHI we visited Old Baldy. It was build in 1817 and was beautiful. It was a $6 charge if you wanted to climb. The grounds around are beautiful and it overlooks the marsh and ocean. it was great

Definitely find the time to saunter through this cool historical view of BHI. Really enjoyed the range of historical information and the lighthouse. The climb is steep and not for the faint of heart (it IS a lighthouse). But the destination is worth the trip!...More
