Explore a real gravitational anomaly at Mystery Hill! Amazing visitors...

Explore a real gravitational anomaly at Mystery Hill! Amazing visitors since 1948 visitors receive a quick guided tour of the Mystery Platform where two guest stand on a perfectly level platform but appear to grow and shrink as they switch sides and the Mystery House where the laws of gravity appear to have been forgotten as things roll up hill and visitors experience a strange pull to the North. After the tour guest are invited to stay and experiment as long as they like before moving on to the Hall of Mystery with a series of Optical Illusions and Hands on activities including The Shadow Wall, the Spooky Spigot, The Flying Mirror, and everyone's favorite Bubblerama where you can actually stand inside a giant soap bubble. Visitors also get free admission to visit the Moon and Irene Mullins Arrowhead Collection of over 100,000 arrowheads they collected over their life time and to a walk thru the 1903 Dougherty House the home of the founders of Appalachian State University. Also while at Mystery Hill visitors can buy a bucket and try their hand at Gem Mining at the area's premier gem mine Doc's Rocks and the Appalachian Fossil Museum. Open 7 days a week year round, rain or shine. Mystery Hill is located between Boone and Blowing Rock on Hwy 321.

Seems like a lot of money for what you get. The gravity area was amazing and fun but why did we need a tour guide to show us things that had nothing to do with the strange gravity forces and hen leave us in the gravity room and the rest of the museum? Most of the exhibits had nothing to... More

I went to mystery Hill close to 35 years ago when I was a kid. I was not at all impressed and never desired to go back. My oldest son really wanted to go so we went recently. I've got to say that I was impressed with the improvements that have been made. It was a lot of fun for... More

We enjoyed going thru the house and two museums. Not sure if there is a vortex on this property but the science behind some of the experiments were interesting. Definitely a place kids love.

If you don't enjoy this place you're in too bad a mood to enjoy anything. As senior citizens we loved it. Kids that were there were having a great time. Just watching the kids enjoy it was a great time. Plus, the museum was a surprise bonus. Authentic items on display that were professionally displayed and described. If you're into... More

A simple old roadside attraction that my kids absolutely love! The vortex room is great and good luck getting your little ones out of the bubble room. It's like a trip back in time. You'll enjoy it. You can come/go all day long too!

Nice location for a family outing. The main tour and mystery room was the highlight of our time there. We went on a Monday and there was very little traffic in the museum area. Our tour guide was very nice and full of information. We got him to ourselves and was able to get a lot of extra questions in.... More

$9 for adults but $1 off coupons in hotel flyers. Fun gift shop. Old time photos looked like fun but seemed way over priced so we passed on that. It starts with a guided tour of a couple of outdoor exhibits. When we finished that , I thought this was pretty lame. Then , we entered the tilted room and... More

This was my son's only request on the whole trip. We had a great time and a good visit. The vortex room was our favorite. Make sure you visit the house next door to see the arrowheads!

Visited as our last stop attraction on our way out of town. Just as much fun as when I was a kid. Keep in mind this is a roadside attraction in a small mountain town so don't expect too much. The vortex room is fun and so is the bubble room. Not a lot has changed in 20 years which... More
