2016 marks the second time we've done the Tasting History tour with Jeff, and we'd do it again. My wife is a history buff and we are both foodies so naturally, this tour was a great fit. I really enjoyed getting to know some of the local restaurants, their owners, and trying award-winning and unique foods. While walking to each... More

John is a fantastic historian. You can tell he really loves sharing his knowledge. He does a great job of walking backwards and talking with the group. We only had four in our group. The other couple are local. The woman had similar interests with my friend Susan. Jeff the organizer said he and his wife started the business about... More

This is our 4 or 5 time taking this tour and it never disappoints. John is an amazing historian and we learn something new and interesting every time. The food on the tours is awesome! This years addition of the Dive Bar was a surprisingly wonderful addition. The mahi wrap was delicious! Jeff makes the tour so much fun and... More

We went on a tasting tour back in July. Jeff had to cancel our initial tour as it wasn't filled, and then the next day, he had a baby! But, they kept the second tour and another gentleman did the tour. The man was a retired history teacher and was a wealth of knowledge about the area. We went to... More

Were were in Carolina Beach the week of July 20th 2015 and had scheduled the Tasting History tour. Jeff called and left me a message that they had to cancel as they had just had a new baby--CONGRATS by the way!! I was definitely disappointed, however even with the stress of having a new baby he spent almost 30 minutes... More

This tour is not to be missed! I recommend going at the beginning of your trip to the beach so you can enjoy the culinary gems on the island again during your visit. The hosts, Jeff and John are very knowledgable, fun and accommodating. We had a large group and Jeff created a tour on a day that was convenient... More

Every year for the last 3 years the tasting tour has been a highlight of our vacation. Jeff and Brinley bring a wealth of knowledge of local history that is truly interesting. It's a blast getting to try the signature dish/drink of some of the best local restaurants and has often dictated where we want to go with our families... More

John and his wife Brinley were delightful and clearly enjoy living here and sharing their knowledge of local history and great places to eat! We were able to eat at places we had hoped to try, and John even asked the Surfhouse to make an alternative sampling for my poor hubby who has a seafood allergy (my bad- I should... More
