The beach is fairly clean. I grew up coming to this beach and wrightville so for me it's more nostalgic with my kids. The sand is very course and gets very hot. They have several things nearby on boardwalk for a quick grab for food and what not.

This was our second visit to Carolina Beach State Park. This is fantastic state park only 5 minutes or so from Carolina Beach. Great for families or couples, this park has large campsites for tents or RVs, plenty of walking trails and relaxation. Our favorite aspects of this park: -large, private campsites, it felt like we had privacy even in... More

We chose this park for our first days in our new tiny travel trailer because of a recommendation of a Wilmington resident who said it was much better than another highly rated, privately owned RV park. Checked in at the park office at the marina. The lady at the desk was very helpful. We had reserved a pull-through spot. Plenty... More

We Love this nice quiet campground. Sites were full and we never heard a peep. My wife and I went for a nice hike on the trail following the river. Excellent views. The only problem was in February they lock the gate at 7 pm so we had to plan an early diner to get back in time but other... More

I haven't camped at this location, but it has a great marina, and several trails that are great for a stroll. The park is pet friendly and a great place to take a stroll with the family or just a casual stroll on your own

Sandy trails exploring interesting habitats. Shoot for Sugar Loaf, the big dune and take along a plastic sled for some fun. Good views of Cape Fear River. Also marina on river. Biking allowed on paved roads.

Clean, private campsite for our small RV. For 3 days our family revelled in the peace this state park abundantly provided. Walking distance to the ocean. Beautifully maintained trails offered fascinating twists as an alternative to the paved roads. Dog friendly, even allowing a large section of the beach for them to frolic providing a leash is on hand. Affordable... More

This was my first time at the Carolina beach state park. We were walking our dogs and enjoying the view, when some guy was talking on a cellphone , kicked my dog so I told him not to do that, but he denied it. So I will never never !!!go to park again. I think people should be careful about going... More

Nice beach with shells, views of other islands and mainland but too many folks with dogs that they let off their leashes. You may think your dog is great but those of us walking and running on the beach do not know your dog and do not know that they are gentle souls. Not usually afraid of labs, etc. but... More

This is well run state park. The visitor center is well-kept and has interesting exhibits.Carolina Beach State Park is bounded on two sides by water one side is snows cut which connects the intracoastal waterway to the Cape fear River. On the adjoining side is the Cape Fear River itself. There are plenty of good spots to fish from the... More
