Took my family of five- 3 no experience riding. (9) (8) (8)- years old. Cheryl and Katie led the ride. Excellent! Don't let the drive there or the barn fool you- unbelievable ride! Up to the wild ponies, taught the boys how to control the horse and let them trot only when they were comfortable. Best kept secret! Not web... More

Beautiful day in January. The guides were awesome and the horses very well behaved. The scenery is amazing. Riding through the river is must.

This is our third time riding here and we love it. Cheryl (our guide) does a good job. Our horses were great. Riding them along the beach and into water about knee deep (horse knees that is) was wonderful. Cheryl will use your camera and take great photos of you on the horses. Can't wait to go again.

I loved my day of riding at Cedar Island with Outer Banks Stables. The guides take their time making sure that each person is on the right horse, is comfortable and is given directions. Very young people, as well as those not entirely dressed for riding all did fine, one guy was barefoot! I recommend shoes and long pants, along... More

I would have given the review an Excellent, but the owner and her helper were not pleasant people. I am going to start out with the positive. The horseback riding was GREAT! My family rode on the beach the whole time, but it is a little different kind of beach. The water is calm, and the beach is sandy, but... More

Went riding here last August. The "barn" was really a shack and there was at least a foot of compressed manure in all the stalls in the barn. Supposedly the horses only come to the barn to eat and the rest of the time are allowed to roam the island. The tack for the horses is cobbled together and the... More

Went on the most relaxing trip today with my daughter (13yrs). Miss Cheryl and Miss Katie were fabulous. These stables you might miss, right before you get to the Cedar Island ferry. We went on the 1 1/2 hr trip (105$each). We walked all down the island, in the water, out to the sand bars. Saw many wild ponies, cattle,... More

I was so excited to ride on the beach, it was something I had never done. I'm pretty sure I had a smile on my face the entire time.. The experience was amazing. You ride through the water, along the ocean, see wild cattle and horses, and much more wildlife. My boyfriend and I went on the sunset ride over... More

My 52 year old mother and I did the sunset beach ride, and it was well beyond my expectations! So much fun! The barn looks a little sketchy when you pull up, it could use some love. But the horses are well taken care of and are very loved. Cheryl matches you to a horse that she thinks you'll do... More
