The Ackland Art Museum’s permanent collection consists of more than 17,000 works of art, featuring North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works of art on paper (drawings, prints, and photographs), as well as significant collections of European masterworks, 20th-century and contemporary art, African art, and North Carolina pottery. The Ackland organizes several special exhibitions each year. Admission is always free to all.

Some exhibits are of more interest than others. I found about half of them to quite good but very limited. The written guides were very helpful. The admission is free!

Enjoy a walk about this lovely museum. If you only have a short time to visit, this is the place. You will be able to enjoy the entire building and it is right on Franklin.
