Lake Norman State Park is super pretty and offers a lot of activities. They have over 30 miles of hiking and biking trails and you can rent different types of boats (canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, etc) to take out on the lake. My only complaint...More

Being a realtor here I have seen this area explode with people moving here to enjoy this wonderful lake just outside of Charlotte, with it's very low taxes.

A really beautiful lake with dozens of quiet, isolated coves. This is a regional treasure that I was happy to discover as an out-of-stater.

Coming from Florida, it was nice and reminiscing to just sit by the lake and take in the views. Miss the beach but this will do

Excellent to spend a day at the lake. Rent a boat and have fun with family and friends. You can stop at one of many lake restaurants for lunch.

I went there with my family and thought it was going to be a place to swim. The water is shallow and it was up to my waist and I am on 5 '2...I was disappointed.

Try Airbnb or VRBO if you are looking to rent a house. If you specifically want something right on the water make sure and specify that in your search. Good luck, and enjoy! It's a beautiful place!

There are no trains or other public transportation from Charlotte to the Lake. It's about 20 miles. You would need to rent a car for flexibility.
