Great area museum

Unpretentious small museum. Exhibitions give insight into a broad region of northern coastal NC. Very helpful staff.

A gem hidden among the beauty of the town. Awesome chronological history of area. Terrific artifacts, well labeled. Museum has a very friendly air about it and not stuffy. Children should definitely be exposed to these collections. Interactive area for children is available and a quality gift shop. There is an elevator available and stairs to viewing areas. A must see... More

Being from out of town we needed something to burn some time. Museum was laid out well and easy to navigate. Permanent exhibit was great to learn the history of the area and the temporary ones were fun to explore. Free admission

Really nice, well done museum with many original artifacts. Once you enter you'll get lost in simpler times and gain an appreciation for the lifestyle we have today! If you visit the area, a must see.

We made the 2 hour drive specially to see the Tiffany exhibit which was small but lovely. Glad it got us there since this is a wonderful museum with lots of history of early America to learn and enjoy. No admission or parking charge either! We had allotted only 2 hours for the visit, so we will be back to... More

The history of the Albemarle is effectively retold in this beautiful museum. There are also special exhibits, e.g. Weddings in the Albemarle, Tiffany exhibit, etc.

What a beautiful and informative museum. This well organized and pleasantly staffed beautiful building is a must visit for Tourists and locals alike. I am embarrassed to say that when I lived in Elizabeth City I ignored this wonderful attraction, it took a visit to the city 20 years after my departure for it to get my attention. All I... More

Free! I can't believe it was free as there are some fantastic exhibits and great benefits for kids. It was really beautiful, clean and you are so close to the pieces. There are also several sections that you can get close too. We spent a little over an hour just enjoying the museum and several seats to sit down at... More

What a great place to visit. Had my 13 year old grandson with me he really enjoyed the exhibits. Nice gift shop. Like to see a star bucks open up inside in lobby with some nice outside cast iron tables to set. This place is Hugh in size. Displays are very interesting most all displays on second floor. First flood... More
