Their African American displays were very informative, and their temporary women’s history hallway that equally reviewed three different populations in NC...More

Elizabeth City’s Museum of the Albemarle isn’t exactly new. Rather, it has been the northeastern regional branch of the NC Museum of History for many years. What is new, at least relatively speaking, is the facility, which opened in 2006. Previously, the museum had been...More

We stopped in Elizabeth City and were amazed by the Museum of the Albemarle. The museum had excellent displays about the history of the area. Well worth the time we spent browsing.

I couldn't believe how many authentic pieces of history this museum holds. Clothes, tools, boats and even a re-built smokehouse. Perfect way to spend an hour or two during a rainy day.

Not really, regional . However if you are in the area its well worth a stop. Go to the web site to see current exhibit. You may want to visit the cemetery next door.
