Was...okay. Please don’t think that you’ll come out of here with much unless you get a salted bucket. (We chose not to.) Now understand - gemming in native soil doesn’t guarantee you’ll find ANYTHING, but conversely, you might get a huge stone. We spent a...More

We are sorry you didn't find as much as you were hoping for but as you stated above native mining is not a guarantee. The only true native mines in Macon county are our-self, Sheffield, and Cherokee. There are no other truly dig yourself native...More

Spent the whole day here. Miss Judie and Megan were phenomenal! We had never been here before but will definitely be back. Bring your own lunch, bring gloves, and don't wear your good clothes because if you don't get dirty, you aren't doing it right!

Friendly staff though could use a few more outside to assist with identifying finds. Recommend bringing gloves and old clothes. Definitely had fun and hubby found almost a bell bringer on last bucket of day. Plan on going back next time in area!

At this mine, you can purchase either buckets of Native soil (with minerals) or buckets of soil salted with minerals from elsewhere. If you choose to look for native sapphires and rubies, you have to walk over to the other side of the creek and...More
