Stonedectective

Great to be under shelter and being able to sit down and clean your stones while searching. Found so many beautiful stones that could be made into jewerly.

OMG! What a gorgeous house and a neat collection inside. But the front desk staff have never been to the mine. Why? They told us they weren't interested in it and therefore didn't know much about it, except that "a lot of rock hounds go there."

We had passed the sign "Hiddenite Museum" several times when travelling on the I40 but somehow never had the time to go visit. This trip, while travelling on Route 64, we again came across a sign and we turned off the road to find this museum. We were so glad that we did. Such helpful staff who explained its history;... The Hiddenite Center (which is comprised of the historic Lucas Mansion and the Educational Complex) is the premiere arts organization in the region. The staff is professional and courteous, and very knowledgeable about the history and arts culture in Alexander and surrounding counties.
