For years we have drove the road from Franklin to the Highlands and as you enter the Cullasaja Gorge, rocks are on the left and a guardrail is on the right keeping you from a very steep cliff. Occasionally large trucks that are not supposed to be on this road get stuck there. But there is a small pulloff for... More

These falls, viewed along the lovely stretch of Hwy 64 between Franklin and Highlands, are well worth a stop along this gorgeous wooded route.

Due to the narrow, winding roadway these falls are more easily spotted traveling US 64 from Franklin to Highlands, NC. The pull off for viewing is narrow and parking limited, located in a short straight stretch between two curves. While I did not see a trail down to the river, I suppose it could be done, just not by me!... More

We hiked down the steep hill to catch some photos of this beautiful cascade of water. Can be seen from the road, but much better up close and personal.

It's a beautiful place, but you must be careful if you plan to hike down because it is pretty steep. A tree feel when we were going down! Make sure to have good hiking boots as well. I had Chacos when we visited and did not have any problems, but I will certainly make sure to be more prepared next... More

Stunning and beautiful falls as you enter Highlands - worth pulling to the side to take in the water rush and stunning falls...but a little secret...this is only the welcome mat. The next 2-3 pull offs, next to the guard rail openings, give you a chance to hike down to OTHER smaller and beautiful falls to experience close up! The... More

We accidentally found this gorge and waterfall. We were encourage by some other people to hike down for the view. We stopped in a pull off area in the road. The hike down starts with ropes! Then it is a very severe steep climb down. Many trees have fallen and they help navigate on the way down. Children had no... More

the falls is not large but there are steep sides and the day we were there, some teens were using a rope swing to plunge into the questionable depth below the falls. interesting

We saw this beauty on our way to visit Dry Falls. It is absolutely gorgeous cascading down the mountainside. My only complaint is I did not get to pull over and find a way down!
