Very nice State Park. Easy drive to the summit with a couple of overlooks along the way. The trail at the top is easy to navigate but keep the kids away from the edge of the cliffs in a couple areas. Great picnic area and there is a restroom. I rally liked the markers along the way explaining how the... More

The view was amazing! We went on a clear day and could see for miles. It was peaceful and breathtaking. The hike was not as bad I as thought it would be.

We stopped in on our State Parks trip and was amazed at the views on the road to the top. We hiked to the summit for an awesome view of NC, VA, and TN. You just have to look over Walmart like lol.

Mount Jefferson State Natural Area has become one of our favorite day trips. We live about 2 hours away and love to head to Jefferson and West Jefferson to picnic and hike at Mt. Jeff. Driving into the park, you switch-back up the mountain. There are a couple of parking areas with great views of the town of Jefferson and... More

It is a nice drive to the top and then there are picnic tables and look out points for you to enjoy. The area was clean with plenty of parking for the crowd that was there. The view was phenomenal. I hope to return in the fall with the color changes.

Nice drive up to the top. A few overlooks to stop and see probably better to stop on the way down. Great shaded picnic area at the top.

The three overlooks, sunrise, sunset and jefferson are all really good places. They offer views for miles on a clear day. You can even see as far as Tennessee from the Sunset overlook. Walking trails are available, but we did not use those.

Stop by the ranger station at the entrance to get info. There are three overlooks with spectacular views for those that drive only. At the top of the road is a huge picnic area and shelter. There is a pretty amazing view from Luther Rock after a moderate hike. We learned all about swallowtail butterflies. Must see!

Mt Jefferson Natural Area is a nice little park right outside of Jefferson/West Jefferson NC. There is a road that runs throughout the park and takes you to some views that are honestly awesome. You can see the entire valley below and all the way to Mt Rogers several miles away. Definitely a spot to take a picnic or nice... More
