I found this park from Hiking North Carolina by Randy Johnson, and I decided to try going for a run here. Fantastic idea! It's not easy terrain, per se, but it's navigable, fun, and very doable. I highly recommend this park for runners. I was...More

It's hard to believe this exists near such built up areas of OBX! It makes for a very welcome change to the more crowded and commercial beach areas. This preserve is a very interesting environment, combining woods, dunes, and marshes/ponds. There are a number of...More

Great place to get some trail running. Can easily run for 1hr. Great variety of scenery. Nice hillls. Some stairs. Can be buggy. Great to get off the flat blacktop or the straight flat beach. Highly recommend the trails to run or hike. Enjoy.

I love hiking the trails. There is one or two that take you to the sound. Mosquitos are bad just like any place on the sound side.
