Unexpectedly hiked to the top of Waterrock Knob in cowboy boots, but the pain in our feet was well worth it! It was a long hike uphill (nearly 2/3 of a mile) and as tired as we were, we'd do it again. The view was...More

From every direction at this stop on the Blue Ridge, you can see for miles and miles. The trail to the top is a little rough, but it well worth the climb.

I've hiked Waterrock Knob with my in-laws and my grandchildren and they made it to the top. There is a stopping point partway up with an area to rest and look out over the mountains. The last part of the hike narrows to a rocky...More

Our favorite place to watch the sunset. There are a couple of picnic tables, a large parking lot and a 360* view. At 5,800 feet the unobstructed views are spectacular.

Great views especially for sunset. Also I hiked at bottom of road on black mountain trail. Enjoyed time there.

Nice place to pull off, small shop with souviners and area info also has picnic tables and bathrooms. Good views from parking area or you can opt to walk to the top - half mile, strenuous (?) and steep, depending on your physical fitness level....More

Really fantastic place, so pretty, trail is rough for a short legged, overweight lady. But so worth it. Such beautiful views at the top and really all the way up.

Been there many, many, MANY times. One of the best views on the planet Earth. One of the few places you can watch a full moon rise in the East as the sun sets in the Western sky.

We took the following ages: 14, 7, 5, 2, 6 months. The trail to the top is doable, but hard work for the little legs. Our 2 year old did it all on her own. We did a 7 mile hike the day before, so...More

The main level of the parking lot is very accessible, as are the bathrooms and welcome center. The trail is a moderate hike, but the view just from the parking lot is worth a stop.
