Operated by a private concern, adults have to pay a fee to go out on the Ocean Crest Pier (kids are free). If adults want to fish, they also need required state permits. In spite of that, views are great...especially at sunset. But beware that this was the pier that attracted the sharks of 2015 that took off the arm... More

This pier is my favorite for views of the island. The pier is clean and well kept. The store is expansive with an offering of quick grab snacks and drinks.

Whether you're fishing or just looking for serenity, a stroll on the pier is ample for both. There's a $1 fee, so take your time and enjoy if not fishing. People fishing are usually very friendly and don't mind visiting with passers by.

My husband and I enjoyed fishing from Ocean Crest Pier. It was well worth the money we spent. The people at the pier were friendly, and we caught several small fish while we were there. We will definitely be going back the next time we are at Oak Island.

We thought it be a nice idea to bring our grandson to the pier. When we arrived, we found it was not free, however, it is only a $1.00 for adults, and kids free. It was a nice pier. Lots of people fishing. Would I go again, no! but I would tell others to try it. It goes quite far... More

We weren't fishing, but plenty of people were. We went around dusk. Everyone on the pier was friendly, allowing my 2 year old to pet the fish they'd caught! It was great for a half hour activity. We even saw dolphins!

Took my grandson down to the pier a couple times during our stay at a nearby beach house. It's a lovely way to relax and watch a sunset, or you can fish or watch others fishing. Clean, calm, peaceful. Costs a buck or 2 to go out for an entire day.

My wife and I took her dad who is disabled and in a wheel chair fishing here last week and all had a great time. The pier is clean with benches, rod holders and running water. There is a tackle shop with snacks and beverages and the pier is open until 2:00 am. We took dad home after a few... More

Was only here for a drive through. It is lovely and highly populated from what we could see. Pier would be nice for fishing

We stayed a couple blocks away so our family visited more than once. The teens enjoyed walking out and looking in the evening. It is a safe atmosphere. We did fish once with the littler kids which was reasonable. We had our own rods and bought bait. Sadly no bites but still fun. It was nice to be able to... More
