Nice easy trail. Takes you out to a viewing stand where we stayed for about 30 minutes with our binoculars watching all the ibis, pelicans, cormorants, etc. But as everyone has already said, BUG SPRAY IS A MUST!

This is an easy walk and beautiful. Love the pine cones, they are more buffed and shinny rather than dark brown and dull. It was a fun experience and I walked it alone no wild animals came after me.

We like hiking the trails at Hammock Hills Nature Trails. Not a big place but good exercise and always some wildlife to see in the way of seabirds or even an occasional dolphin. Better in the early morning and late afternoon.

Plenty of easy parking. Not large crowds. Across from National Park campground. A scenic island hammock nature walk that is flat.

Nature trail was great, shaded most of the way. Lots of informative placards to let you know what you might see and other information about the area. Watch your step, lots of frogs and Fiddle Crabs (you can see them on the path and her them scurrying in the woods) Majestic, Serene a stroll thru a piece of mother earth... More

This trail is about 3/4 miles and takes you across the width of the island to the sound side. We went during April and the bugs weren't bad but I can imagine them being bad during the summer. We rode our bikes from the village and was an easy bike out but little tough back (into a strong wind). The... More

This nature trail takes you through the many different habitats that are represented on Ocracoke Island: maritime forest, marsh, live oaks, tidal inlet. The trail is an easy walk with signposts along the way. The mosquitoes are ferocious, but a good spray with DEET will keep them at bay. Try the trail on a windy day early in the morning-the... More

This trail is about three miles from town(across from the campground). It is a short hike in sand, on boardwalks with information signs along the trail. This is a great way to get away from the many people on Ocracoke(especially in the summer) and find a quiet place to walk, listen the wind in the grasses and trees, and possibly... More

These trails are beautiful, and the little information signs along the way are a huge help. However, be sure to bring bug spray or the mosquitoes will eat you alive!
