The view and climb up to the knob well worth the time. Always a stop when in the area. Gorgeous views of the valley and Winston Salem can be seen in the distance on a clear day.

The short hike that circles Pilot Knob isn't strenuous at all and it's well worth it for the beautiful views!

We came for Memorial Day weekend and got there early, so it wasn't that crowded yet. Thankfully. We took the Jamoekee(?) trail and it wasn't bad for the whole family. It was very beautiful and we were able to see such wonderful scenery as well...More

Campsites are open year around. Although I did find out last winter that during inclement weather the affected state parks will close.

I do not know of any sites with hookups on the mountain in the park, but there is a campsite about 1/4 mile downhill from the gate with full hookups.
