Beautiful all year round, this is one of the best waterfalls to visit in the summer because there's a wonderful (and deep) pool at the base of the waterfall that makes a great place to cool off. This waterfall is right off the road and...More

This is the easiest access Waterfall that I know of. You park beside the road and walk down and swim in the falls. I made base camp at Davidson River Campground and also visited Gorges State Park (30min), Dupont State Forrest (25 min) and Green...More

This waterfall is amazing. It is so accessible and it is a great place to take little ones. We spent a solid 3 hours here with our 7 and 4 year old, just playing inn the water. Crowded, but so peaceful.

Good for swimming or just sightseeing. We were able to find a parking spot right out front so we only had to take the stairs down to get to it. Lots of people having fun down there and even diving. Don't take your swimming suit...More

Nice cold water to cool off on a hot day! Waterfall itself is very beautiful and surrounded by mountain. Should be able to find a parking spot easily because people are coming and going pretty fast. Admission is free. Possible to climb a little to...More

This area is popular & crowded but we went on a weekday morning and had it to ourselves. You can see it from your car or walk down a set of stairs for views at the bottom. My husband has difficulty with stairs, so it...More

We passed the falls on our way out of sliding rock and the kids had a blast swimming under the falls and climbing a bit around the area! Be careful, as it can be slippery once you get to the rocks at the bottom of...More

We drove the "Best of the Mountains" scenic loop recommended by RomanticAsheville.com and this section of road was mobbed with waterfall sightseers and especially with people wanting to say they slid down Sliding Rock. The road was downright dangerous with people parking on every inch...More

Very easy to access the falls. We wore water shoes and swim suits because the splash/mist from the falls can get you wet and there are lots of rocks at the base. Beautiful spot for pictures and well worth the drive from Asheville.

I wouldn't recommend going at night. I think it's closed after a certain time. You could always find a nice stream or river off of a trail near the falls. As for the time of day, I'm not sure

Actually several picnic areas close by with picnic tables, but lots of folks just head down to the river at the falls and eat there, but here are NO tables there. It can be a zoo down there if it is a busy (e.g., Memorial... More
