"A must see"

It use to be a free attraction several years ago, but now there is a small fee. Must be because of the large crowds that come come to see Sliding Rock.

Pretty place to visit even if it's too cold to slide - parking is free off-season (restrooms closed), and it's an easy walk over to view the rock and the stream below.

No crowds in winter, but great scenery! Stopped here after Looking Glass Falls and we were only ones there.

Sliding rock was is one of those places that you'll never forget. I went several times between the ages of 6 and 17 and then a few times over the last 10 years. It was incredible fun and a memorable family experience.

Great for kids, they do charge a nominal fee. The area is extremely beautiful, and is easily assessable.

Sliding Rock is just a few miles off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a detour that I highly recommend . It is a natural water Slide that is not only fun, but different each time you go down. Because of the rocks underneath you along with the natural , you get a different "ride" down each time. Only problem... More

Winding drive up through the forest to sliding rock was really pretty. Parked, got kids in suits, and took a short walk to the rock. 4 year old was able to use a certified flotation device--she was shy and went down with hubby. Water is bit cool but very refreshing on a hot day. Hubby and 12 year old daughter... More

We stopped here to check this out, but since it was 32 degrees F, we didn't try the slide. Had it been just a bit warmer we would have given it a go. The restrooms were also closed for the season, so we wouldn't have had a place to change. There is a small fee to get in, $2/person, but... More

We loved this experience. We went end of September. The weather was still warm and the water as cold as all of the reviews state. There was no line and I lost count the amount of times that we went down the rock. There were kids of all ages: from 4 to 80.

There is parking along the side of the road and a parking lot as well. During the summer and on weekends one may have to deal with crowds, but when school is in session and especially during the work week, getting to Sliding Rock and parking is easy. Beautiful spot and fun to "ride" the slide.
