There are some very cute houses in the neighborhood. That is about it. I am a prolific picture taker but have none from Oakwood because nothing seemed worth taking a picture of. We couldn’t go in anywhere either, and porches all start to look the...More

The Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh is a historic neighborhood that is worthy of visiting. It makes a nice walk and although very close to downtown and the busyness there, it is a very quiet and quaint neighborhood. Most of the houses are well kept and...More

Lots of old houses, but not much else. Some of the streets are quite narrow. Cool old cemetery nearby.

Very nice historic homes, but the people there are so terribly pretentious and ridiculously snobby for the most part. Get over yourselves already.. lol

Toured this area on foot on a nice fall afternoon. Lots of older well preserved homes around the Governors mansion. Toured the cemetery as well. Neat historical sites located within. Definitely worth a look.

Being originally from Raleigh we toured this area on the Raleigh Trolley Tour. The area has been restored as an Historic area and the houses have been preserved and painted to reflect how they would have been when built.

Oakwood is my FAVE district in Raleigh. It is like stepping back in time, you can almost see ladies in their long dresses, and gentlemen in their top hats. Christmas time offers lovely candlelight tours, and beautiful christmas light viewing. I live downtown and it...More

It is a walk through neighborhood with a mixed bag of historic houses. Some are really fine and dandy and in very good restored conditions. Some are flea bags waiting to be restored or demolished. The Governor's mansion is quite interesting. Not sure whether allowed...More

We picked up a brochure at the Visitor Center and did the tour by ourselves. There was no guide. It doesn't matter how many people you have since you are doing it by yourselves. You can do it any time you want.
