I would recommend this location to anyone who visits this area. We all see it as a wonderful, enjoyable place. This museum reminds visitors what dangers faced those attempting to access these sores in the past. It also highlights the various innovations they came up with.

Very interesting to learn about the men who saved so many lives off the coast and the equipment they used to do so. The docent was animated and inspiring.

The original used in some epic rescues is there on display along with equipment that was used. I can't imagine rowing out through the surf risking my life the way they did. Even when they... More

Took our young grandsons to visit. Staff was very informative and friendly. Displays were in great condition. Amazing what these heroes endured while rescuing the ship wrecked victims. We had visited a few years ago and watched a live demonstration.

We've been travelling to the OBX for probably 20 yrs and on our latest trip labor day week 2016 we finally decided to visit. The ladies that work there are a wealth of info regarding the history of not just the CLSS but also the local areas.... More

The volunteer workers were very knowledgeable about the history and past workers of the station. A stop definitely worth making when visiting the Outer Banks.

You're sure to gain insight and information about the early days of life saving efforts on the Outer Banks when you visit Chicamacomico Life Saving Station (and, as an added bonus you'll learn to pronounce "Chicamacomico"!). We were greeted by a friendly, well informed guide, watched an orientation video, and toured the out- buildings. Well worth the trip if you'd... More
