Don't know what to expect going there but it wan't too commercialized, at least. There were many visitors there but too not crowded. We had a reasonable good time there seeing and looking around.

Besides being an ancient Chinese Buddhist temple, the place also showcase to visitors the oriental arts during those period. The main attraction should be the statue of Goddess of Mercy with Thousand hands. I learned that it was crafted from a huge piece of gingo tree. Very impressive.. There are lots of shops and food stalls nearby.

This 18th century temple complex houses one of the most impressive gilded statues of Guanyin with a "thousand arms" (more like a few dozen) I've ever seen. It's well-worth the admission fee to walk through the quiet temple grounds and see the Buddhas.

This is a great example of a Chinese Buddhist temple. The grounds are well kept and the statue of Guanyin is a masterpiece. The monks are friendly and will try to engage in conversation with you if you approach them. It is definitely worth the fee and it has plenty to see. It has one of the best temple shops... More
