This lake is one of the most beautiful blue crystal clear waters I've ever seen. We walked around the entire Lake on a rainy day with our umbrellas and we had such a fun time. The trail is kept nicely and other people will most likely be around. There are not too many people there so it was also private... More

We love visiting lake Eibsee, especially in summer. Definitely rent a pedal-boat and venture out into the lake in summer. The ducks love eating crackers if you bring a snack along. The water is pretty and fairly clear, and the view of the alps from the lake is just gorgeous. You can also swim pretty much anywhere along the lake... More

Having spent the morning on top of the Zugspitze, admiring the view of the frozen lake below. I caught the cable car down from the mountain, not intending to hang around for too long. It was a Sunday and nothing was open so I decided to head towards the shore and ended up walking the entire circumference of the lake,... More

I had 10 days unplanned itinerary after my stay in Berlin and I remembered I saw a very beautiful photo of Lake Eibsee from Instagram, so I decided to check it out and spent 2 days in there. I took the train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen then changed a bus to Eibsee. It was in mid-July and supposed it was very warm... More

Excellent place for a short excursion even during winter! 7 km hike all around the lake in -15 Celsius, you feel your lung is getting cleaned up, you can cut the air it is so heavy. We will definitely return springtime to do it again! This place is breath-taking in every season throughout the year.

While you're changing from the mountain train to the cable car (or vice versa) take an hour out of your vacation schedule to take a short walk around the Eibsee. It's a pleasant little Alpine lake with fantastic views. Highly recommended.

Eibsee Lake is a beautiful alpine lake in the southern part of Bavaria, Germany. It is also located about 8 miles southwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen beneath the Zugspitze Mountain. It is also about 100 yards from the Zugspitze Mountain cable car building. The lake is actually owned by the family that owns the Eibsee Hotel (on the banks of the lake)... More

Near to Grainau. Small lake. Takes 2 hours to walk around. Good 4 star hotel at the end of the lake. Can be reached by rail from Grainau or Garmisch.
