Had been looking forward to playing this highly acclaimed course. Very nice old world clubhouse and inn. Lots of memorabilia to look at. Golf course was nice but not as good as we had expected. Conditions were ok, greens fast and hard to read. Had...More

While this course has a long history, it has not been well cared for. It needs maintenance on fairways, teeboxes, and paths. The dirt paths were filled with ruts and not always near tee boxes, i.e. no turnarounds. Signage was poor. Best were the greens...More

We arrived for our final round of our buddy trip with eagerness to play another Ross gem. The staff checked us in and told us they were not that busy so they could get us out fifty minutes early. Good deal and we played the...More

I expected so much more - on a Saturday in June one thinks it could be slow but this is ridiculous. The greens were slow, almost as slow as the golfers. A few of the staff were nice but even the clubhouse was old -...More

As a couple with handicaps in the 16 & 28 range, this is a very difficult course. The false fronts, a Donald Ross trademark, are a challenge to play. Any shot hitting the green will likely rocket off into the many sandtraps or at least...More

The newly remodeled Mid Pines golf course is my favorite of all courses in the Sandhills. It is quintessential Donald Ross Don't let the yardage fool you , it's plenty long for almost any golfer The small greens with devilish breaks are a test for...More

I have played Mid Pines many times and find it difficult, with challenging greens and needing careful placement both off the tee and on the greens. Having said that, it remains my favorite Donald Ross course in the Sandhills. Pick your tee carefully. A good...More

We started with their breakfast buffet. It has the normal resort hotel spread with an omelet station. There chef was quick and did a good presentation. They have fresh smoked salmon (not greasy). The bagel is typical Carolinian. Do not expect a New York bagel....More

This was a great course. Just long enough to provide a real challenge and those quick greens were tough to hold but nothing like Pinehurst #2. The steak sandwich is good at the restaurant, but I wouldn't stay at, dine in, or generally hang out...More

We stayed across the street at Pineneedles. Had a room in one of the villas close to the Clubhouse. King size bed and about a $100 per night. Well worth it.
