We always go to this museum when we're in Southport, it gives a lot of history of Southport plus it's interesting and very historical.

If you are looking for free entertainment for all ages stop in. Very informative and interesting. Scavenger hunt for kids.

Lots of history and fun interactive activities for kids. My children liked trying to make the knots with the ship ropes. Nice little gift shop and clean rest rooms!

My second visit, great museum chocked with artifacts and history. If you're lucky one of the volunteer docents will be available to give more history. Loved the periscope! Nice bathrooms and A/C if your shopping downtown and need a break.

Tuesday through Saturday, 10-5, year round. Check on holidays, however even on the 4th they are open, but for limited hours.
