Small Lighthouse

This lighthouse at Price's Creek is small and very old. There is nice foliage around it and the water makes a pretty picture.

Took a personal tour on board the Encore with Captain Betsy. One of the sights that we saw was Price's Creek Lighthouse. Captain Betsy and First Mate Jane provided us with a wealth of history, including this lighthouse.

You'd probably never know this lighthouse was even here if someone hadn't told you about it. It's located just before you reach Southport via the Ft. Fisher Ferry. It's very small so try to find it on your next trip!

We enjoyed looking for this little known lighthouse on the ferry between Southport and Fort Fisher. Get on the left side of the ferry when leaving Southport and you'll spot it right before the long dock.

It would be great if you could get close to this old beauty, but it is on private property and you can get there. You can see it from a distance on the ferry ride from Southport to Kure, but that is about all.

Little hidden lighthouse if only visible from the water of the Cape Fear River. You get a great view of this light house from the Fort Fisher Ferry - departing from Southport as soon as you are in the waterway!

Not a lot to look at but a very interesting history. This can be viewed from the ferry out of Southport and is worth looking for. The only surviving lighthouse along the Cape Fear River.

Price's Creek Lighthouse is the only one of eight lighthouses along the Cape Fear River, which were authorized by Congress in 1848, that is still standing. The lights were needed to illuminate the 25-mile stretch of the Cape Fear River between Oak Island and Wilmington. For History Buffs and Lighthouse Lovers this is a must see. Easily visible when you... More

This lighthouse is one of the last river lighthouses that once help guide ships upriver to the ports and city of Wilmington. It is no longer in use, but is easy to see on the West bank of the Cape Fear River as the Fort Fisher to Southport Ferry slows to dock in Southport...or as the Ferry leaves the Southport... More
