We offer gem mining at it's best! You can mine the buckets here at the flume line or you can take the 4 hour trip out to the mine to dig your own. The mine trips do require a reservation. You can do the mining at the flume rain or shine. We also have a General Store/Gift Shop, Jewelry Shop, a free fluorescent mine display, a picnic area to go along with the gem mining. We also have gold panning. We are located one mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway so there are lots of places to do hiking if you like. Come and enjoy a fun filled day with us!

I haven’t been to this place in 20 years. Prices are more but same family charm and great fun for all. This is a must do for any small or large group.

My family used to come to Gem Mountain all the time when visiting family in Spruce Pine. I absolutely love this place and wouldn't mind going back, even at the age of 21!

We enjoy flume "mining". It is relaxing and fun, even though we know the gems are planted in the buckets - it is still fun. But Gem Mountain is just a sub-standard "mining" experience. The buckets are expensive and the filler is gravel. Hard on...More

This was our best mine excursion and we did find several gem size stones. A great time we were allowed to bring our small dog as well.
