I moved to this area two months ago and am still discovering the history here. It helps if you can walk because there are hidden treasures where the cars can not go.

Wilmington has the largest National Register district in the state of North Carolina, so there is an abundance of historic architecture to see. The river walk is a special feature of downtown and there are lots of great restaurants.

We did not book carriage ride or meals in advance, but don't about the summer months. Park at the parking garage. Think there is only one public parking garage in the historic district.
