Walking thru this area is a great way to spend an afternoon especially if you are a history buff. The architecture is amazing! If you want to learn about the area I highly recommend the guided horse carriage tour and the trolley tour. Very informative!

The Riverfront adds to the ambiance of the historic district. There are many fine restaurants and shops to frequent making it a premiere spot to visit . It is reminiscent of Fisherman's Warf and Penn's Landing. Nice touch! Will return again.

We went downtown to explore the shops, river walk, & resturants on an early Saturday morning. We started off at the Visitor Center and received some very helpful information. Parking was very easy to find. The wide variety of shops were fun and most were reasonably priced so you could actually do some shopping without breaking the bank :) There... More

Me and my hubby got a place right downtown to stay (the Marriott) and loved it. If you have a family, this may just be a day trip. But me and my husband stayed two nights. We like to eat and drink so downtown was perfect! The night life is fun. They also have ghost walks, horse drawn tours, and... More

I love walking this neighborhood after a good meal on the waterfront. Lots of amazing homes and beautiful gardens to see, plaques to read and learn about history.

The horse drawn carriage ride was nice, got to see the history of Wilmington. Visiting some of the shops also had history like the 2nd picture was used in a movie.

Two days will do it. That will leave enough to stop in one more time down the road. Plenty of history and good restaurants.

I have been quite impressed with Wilmington. I wish I had known about this gem sooner. I would compare it with Savannah GA or Charleston SC. Beautiful architecture is beautiful. It is a quaint, yet there are so many great shops and restaurants in the area. I want to come back and spend a lot of time.

I often use horse drawn carriages when going to a new town, just to hear the history and get my bearings. I would have preferred a private carriage for my family and I, but it is the off season. The "reservation line" is unintelligible and not useable. We went out on the larger wagon...but it was a great time. The... More
