There are tours thru the historic district, but we had spent so much time walking for 2 days, we decided we had seen most everything we would see on the tour, so we cancelled our plans for the tours. I’m sure we missed some info,...More

The Historic District has many attributes. Unfortunately, the city of Wilmington takes away from the scenic aspects by allowing "pot holes" which damage vehicles and give certain areas the appearance of having been in an air raid. The historic commission wants to bring back the...More

beautifully preserved buildings from hundreds of years ago. There are some shops, but I wish there were a few more! The shops that are there have desirable items for sale.

The historic district was very Christmasy during my visit. Just wish some on the homes were open to see.

Always great to rivisit this part of town. Nice Sunday morning stroll among the art vendors working up an appetite for soon to come lunch at one of the quaint places around downtown. Will always be back

Visited Wilmington 22nd and 23rd of April. The place was like a ghost town. Very few shops open. Not a place I would rush back to.

The downtown area is quite charming with many beautiful old homes. We took the historic home tour during the festival.

We visited Wilmington during the 2nd week of April, just a couple days prior to the Azalea Festival. Unfortunately, due to chilly unseasonable weather, many activities in the historic district either opened late , closed early, or didn't operate at all. We tried to get...More

We parked in a lot near the Riverwalk. $3.75 per hour. Nice walk along Riverwalk looking across the RIver to the Battleship North Carolina. I will come another time with grandsons to tour it. The Riverwalk is not very long. Not as long as Charleston...More

A great way to see the Historic District is a horse drawn tour. These tours actually save horses that they rescue from the auction block. This tour goes around the riverfront and past stately mansions. The driver had lots of interesting stories about Wilmington’s history....More

We did not book carriage ride or meals in advance, but don't about the summer months. Park at the parking garage. Think there is only one public parking garage in the historic district.
