This is a very unique architectural jewel in Wilson built by hand by the African Amercian craftsman Oliver Nestus Freeman. On you visit you'll also learn about African Amercian History from the region. The museum holds concerts in their garden that are wonderful.

This is an interesting structure and has historical items inside but it is rather small. The guide inside explained some of the local history and the history of the house. It is worth a stop, but 15-30 minutes is probably plenty of time. There is one restroom inside but it was not working when we were there.

My mom and I enjoyed music on the lawn. There are the 'regulars' and the 'newbies'. This is art/culture at its best with a little diversity built in. Just a darn good time.

The Freeman Round House was built in the 1940s by stonemason Oliver Nestus Freeman. The museum features the culture and contributions of African Americans to the history of Wilson, NC. Freeman also built houses to help with the housing shortage for the GIs returning from war. We picked up a take-out lunch and sat at a cement table to eat... More

The best outdoor concerts in the South. It needs to be on the radar of must do for the summer. Old fashion small town good time. Simple and easy the way life use to be.
