If you're in town and looking for a nice place to walk, this is an excellent choice. There are beautiful trails, rolling hills, and if you're interested in history, you can visit the village itself.

The video shown at Bethabara Park was pretty informative. It is rather telling that it focuses more on the commercial aspects of the early Moravian settlements than on their religious activities. After viewing it, we discussed several matters of interest to us with the staff member at the visitor's center - with mixed results. She confirmed that, more than with... More

Thank you so much for your insightful review, Richard. We are currently researching Moravians and slavery in depth for our new museum exhibit. To answer your question briefly: When Moravian settlers arrived in North America, they were generally against owning slaves. However, as time went by, what could be described as peer pressure or a desire to fit in with... More

A nice place to drive through. Got an authentic old cabin from the eighteenth century and nice garden. Nice picnic area. A place to buy Moravian cookies. A really old style fence from 1700's.

We were the only ones there and we were only in that main part. It's the end of winter, too, so nothing was blooming. It was unexciting and brief for us unfortunately.

Unfortunately, it slows down a lot during our off-season. I hope you can come back during our on-season (April 1- December 13)! The garden is blooming like crazy now. Thank you for your review! More

Love the old remaining structures of olde, you don't get near enough of that in this country. The gardens and cemetery and trails are beautiful, and soothing. As someone who needs regular access to fresh natural places, I've always had a deep appreciation fo this place. Well, everyone needs access to Nature, some are just too desensitized, hence, to know... More

Very peaceful. It was very nice to have such a nice walk through the area. Enjoyed Old Salem more because of the home and shops.

A very nice welcome center with excellent and knowledgeable docents. The tour includes an introductory video followed by a guided tour of the Gemeinhaus ($4).

Moravians came to what would become Forsyth County and settled first in Bethabara. Learn all about this settlement at the visitor center and tour the buildings to see how the Moravians lived in this first settlement which preceded Salem. The park has special events during the year, so check the website to see the calendar of events. There are special... More

Kept seeing the signs as I was driving around with my daughter to various stores. My curiosity led us there. It is a historic settlement from early German, Movarian settlers. There is a partial fort, gardens, restored church and other buildings. Trails for walking and a museum.

An accurate picture of landscape and architecture reflecting the early Moravian life. Great walk about and doing it in a historic setting.
