The tickets are sold at the museum for visiting the Old Salem village. We parked our car at the museum parking lot and walked to the village, but street parking are available in the village. All staffs were welcoming and provided great performances. The breads sold in the bakery were not so great, but their cookies were sooo delicious!

A true colonial Christmas experience. Docents were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Well worth the price to celebrate the holiday..

We wanted to experience Old Salem at Christmas, so we bought a 2 day pass for the third weekend in December. Saturday was packed with young families (Santa was at the visitors' center), but Sunday was relatively empty due to passing showers. The interpreters, therefore, were happy to chat with us for extended periods of time, so we learned much... More

We toured the area for the first time and learned so much about American History that we didn't know or at least not what we were taught in school. The staff does a wonderful job answering all guests questions and demonstrating how things were done at the time of the settlement.

There are three streets with houses along either side, about 30-40% are attractions with reenactors/sales clerks. Learn quite a bit about Moravians, life in a small town in NC over 150 years ago.

Required viewing when visiting Winston Salem. Lots of great history and dining opportunities. It was great to see the old historical buildings and speak with the different craftsmen practicing their trade. Love the riffle shop that were still turning out the old long musket riffles by hand as they were originally made. Truly a lot of labor went into each... More

Two days before Christmas I learned of Old Salem. I'd never heard of it. We decided on a quick trip after Boxing Day. Old Salem did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the format to visit houses and gardens. One simply walks in and needn't wait for a tour to begin at a certain time.

Enjoyed the special winter organ concert complete with Christmas decorations. Interpreters in every open building were very helpful and answered all of my questions. I really enjoyed the Museum which I hadn't visited on my other trips. The new basement exhibit is Moravian artifacts gathered from excavations and homes in the area. It isn't a huge area so you can... More

We found the museum very interesting and a wonderful walk. The ginger cookies are the best and so is the cherry strudel. Parking is satisfactory and the wait for the restaurant foods a little slow.

We visited for the first time and were thrilled with the holiday crowd - no really.... they were all in line for the food and we had the building self-tours to ourselves! We will be back to enjoy the area in a different season for sure.
