This is a wonderful exhibit and if you're either from, or passing through, the Mandan area you should make a point of stopping. On-A-Slant Village is a well-designed and realistic depiction of daily life for the Mandan Indians. My children really enjoy visiting the Village and the park staff is always accommodating and readily available to answer questions and give... More

Really cool faithful reconstruction of the original huts of the early inhabitants ! Located in the middle of the later Fort Lincoln SP it is a good look at how village life was over 300 years ago and how this farming community depended on the Missouri River for its life flow ! A good historical side bar to the US... More

My goodness I was amazed and felt like I had stepped back in time inside the village. Our guide did an outstanding job of explaining village life and answering questions. Great experience!

After a tour of the Custer home we walked to the On-A-Slant Mandan Indian village to see the reconstructed earthen lodges. The tour of this site was most interesting. They have done a good job of restoration of this area and the tour is certainly worth it.

This an interesting side trip when visiting the Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. The reconstructed lodges provide a good glimpse of life in a typical Mandan village.

It was really nice to be able to walk into the village and all the huts that are still there. Nice job restoring the huts.

If you came to the Dakotas in search of Native Americans this is a perfect stop. Not too much walking to step inside recreated Mandan Earthlodges and see what life was like. It costs $5 per vehicle to enter Ft. Abraham Lincoln State Park where this village is located. For an extra $6 per adult (uncertain of child costs) you... More

We visited here in late July 2016. The visitor's center serves as a very informative museum with historical overview and artifacts. I found the diorama of the On-a-Slant village very helpful to gather a sense of the whole. The lodges were very nicely reconstructed. Each shared information from agriculture, hunting, and daily living. I thought it was the perfect amount... More

This is village a beautiful replica of an old native Mandan village. You can take the trolley to the first stop, climb a few stairs and the village is just ahead to the right. It's worth the visit.

The visitor center and reconstructed village are well worth spending a couple of hours of touring and learning. State park rangers provide guided tours of the village, while relating the history of the site and how the people lived. The displays in the buildings expand on the culture and the tribes relationships to other tribes as a center for trade.... More
