We visited in September 2016 and this was one of, if not the highlight of our time in BC. The trip was absolutely fantastic; Orca, Humpback, dolphin, Dall's porpoise, Californian and Stella's sea lion, Auks, Divers, Sooty shearwaters, Phalaropes... the list goes on. The crew are very knowledgeable and really deliver. The boat is quite large and had 2 outboards,... More

We had two trips out with Bill and his boat. We did think one day would be enough, especially as I'm not a good sailor, but we were hooked. We were concerned at the outset when so many people (38) arrived for the same trip. Would there be enough room? Would we be able to take photographs without jostling each... More

Even picked us up from our hotel at Hidden Cove. Started off as a misty morning but soon found Orcas and had great close views, lots of very informative details from skipper and first mate. Soup for lunch good Mulligatawny and then off for humpbacks, various other species on the way but then a stunning humpback that preformed for us... More

This was a great experience and worth the 350+ km drive from Victoria. Captain Mackay is quite a character. He is very knowledgeable. His whales 101 primer is very interesting and give an excellent idea of conservation effort in the area. We saw both Orcas and Humpbacks. One Humpback put quite a show for us jumping and rolling over.

Had 3 great trips out with Bill & Marieka ! Each day we saw plenty of Orca, Humpbacks, Dolphin, Porpoise, seals and Sea lions. Bills informative chatter and humour is an added bonus to the day. Thanks for a great time ! See you next year ! Julian & Mandy

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Mackay Whale Watching. We traveled quite a distance from our resort in another part of B.C. to join this tour. We were fortunate enough to have a former marine life researcher (who had studied orca "percussions") on our tour and she provided a running educational commentary throughout the day. This boat accommodated approximately 20-25... More

I had an awesome day with the mackay family. We saw Orcas, Dolphins, humpback and sealions. Personally I really liked that the focus was on the orcas first and we were able to travel with them for a while. Even so the tour was fully booked it was not to crowded and everyone had a good spot to few the... More

I have gone on numerous whale watching excursions but this was by far the best. The skipper and first mates were incredibly knowledgeable, and very understanding of what made a great day for the guests. We really enjoyed the whales 101 course :) Of course being able to spend time with lots of orcas, daulphins, humpbacks, eagles, sea lions, etc.... More

So much more than just whale watching. Incredible day, never a dull moment. We saw dolphins (a pod of 50+) porpoises, sea lions, resident and transient orcas (some swam directly under the boat), plus several hump backs. Bill's stories about the history of the area, the conservation, the research efforts etc left me almost tearful at times. Amazing stuff.

Great speedy boat to get you from one sighting to another. Didn't get seasick either. Captain Bill and First Mate were humorous, friendly, and awesome hosts with vast experience and knowledge of the area and the ocean life alike. The hot lunch aboard was tasty and comforting as the day was a little rainy at times. We saw orcas, humpbacks,... More
