Obviously the light house is lovely. However, using a few angles and props from the area create a real masterpiece. For example, the best overall picture angle we found was to go to the Bell Museum on the hill, lie down uphill from the bright orange, yellow, and red flowers, place your shot with them in the foreground and the... Even if you don't make the trip to the lighthouse, you can still enjoy and easily photograph it from the wharf. Evening is a great time to photograph it and the boats in the harbor. The lighting is great and constantly changes providing no end to the different angles and compositions.

Such a beautiful, picturesque area. We take our kayak & canoe, and head out to different places each summer. So far we've never been disappointed. We completely circled the island, and got so many awesome pictures. Pulled up on shore ,on the back side of island for a little investigation (seashells) All the while watching the 'Amoeba 'sailing tour. Special... More

This beach is a ferry ride of 5 minutes from the marina in Baddeck. The ride is free but donations are appreciated. There are minimal facilities at the beach, along with four covered picnic tables. Its a nice sand beach, and you can walk around the point to the lighthouse. The kids were entertained and there is a floating dock... More

The lake and surrounding hills provide a scenic backdrop for the lighthouse from across the harbor. We did not take the ferry to actually visit it, but it's a great photo opp while in Baddeck.

Really nice that the ferry is free to take you to Kidston island. We were excited to see the light house and it was very nice. The trail is not well maintained which was disappointing. Ferry staff looked very disinterested which was sad to see. If you have children and want to swim, the swimming area looked very fun. I... More

Great activity to do in Baddeck. Go over to govt wharf and take the ferry over to Kidston Island for a swim and a walk around.

Any day is a fun day heading over to Kidston's Island. Take the Lions Club Ferry over to a sandy beach with picnic tables for fun in the sun and swim. Kids of all ages enjoy this spot.

Very beautiful for photos! I recently took part in Race The Cape and 2 races ended and started near the lighthouse.
