This trail follows the canal along its west bank from St. Catharines through Thorold, Welland, and Port Colborne. In Thorold, the path crosses to the "Thorold Island" created between the old third canal and the current fourth canal in Welland, it follows the old fourth canal through the city, paved on both sides of the canal. The trail zigzags across the canal in Port Colborne until it meets the Friendship Trail at Seaway Park.

Ride along the canal - the whole of it - I think about a 100km round trip. Mainly flat except for the shortish and steep climb, or decline!, at lock 7. Near lock 1 you'll find a number of walkers but otherwise you'll mostly have...More

This is a cyclist's dream! No traffic, great surface, lots of trail markers and historical viewpoints along the way. There are many ways to connect to the pathway.

Everything is planned for a safe interesting trip along the Welland Canal. It's a very beautiful area and the ships in transit are huge.

This canal-side path is asphalt paved and nicely maintained. It is well used by walkers, runners, and bicyclists. In many places it is positioned to offer up close views of ships transiting the canal
