I have been touring historic houses for years and Annandale is unique. It is a wonderful example of the aesthetic movement: beautiful woodwork (hardwood mosaic floor with 5 types of hardwood), beautifully painted ceilings, colourful wallpaper, gorgeous hand carved furniture and so much more. Even some of the doorways have ornate hinges. It is a veritable feast for the eyes.The... More

Whenever we visitors I take them to Annandale House. They love the history of it and the atmosphere you feel as you go from room to room. During the Christmas season the many rooms are decorated for the season and it is like a fairytale. A must to visit then.

I enjoyed all the different history that I was able to see and read along with the artistic painting in a time that there was so little you could see how people back in time that had money were able to modernize there homes and whom had taste and class and pride in there ownership of there homes. Working brought... More

We visited this site with relatives who have a farming background. Everyone was impressed with the foresight Mr. Tillson had with the advanced operations he brought to his farm. Of course, the house and its decor of the time speaks for itself. A great heritage that Tillsonburg is proud to present to others.

Annandale House, regally perched on a hilltop overlooking the city, is a most impressive sight. A tour of interior of this grand home is equally impressive. This construction for the home was commenced in 1880 but took several years to complete. It followed in the Aesthetic Art Movement design which apparently was in the vogue from 1880 -1890 and encouraged... More

The house is definitely something you should see when you come to Tillsonburg. It has been restored beautifully and I thank the people who had the foresight to keep this wonderful home and make a museum out of it.

I was completely unaware of the Aesthetic movement in interior design/decoration, so Annandale House was a perfect introduction. There was quite a bit of information about the movement and the history of the house itself, and since we were there at a quiet time, a helpful docent took us around some of the ground floor rooms before leaving us to...
