Although the beach walk is not long just on the sands, you can walk along the rocks almost all the way back to Akumal Beach. Stopping at La Lunita or La Buena Vida along the way is lovely. This is a very pretty area.

I had read on a couple of websites about Half Moon Bay and the good snorkeling. That was certainly not our experience. First, if you are not staying there, it is nearly impossible to find public parking that allows you access to the Bay and...More

Mainly residential part of North Akumal with a couple of restaurants, not easy to get to the beach. The beach is mainly a reef so not easy to swim at.

The snorkeling in Half Moon Bay is actually pretty good. Lots of different fish. Saw a lion fish, several rays, lots of good things. No waves. Good visibility all the days but one, don't know why that day was different. You need water shoes because...More

The beach is white sand and rocky, not very crowded, lined with private homes and condos, there are 2 restaurants affiliated with small hotels. A little bit of coral, snorkeling is ok, water is fairly calm, water shoes recommended

The beach is beautiful here but it has become a tourist trap where locals try to take advantage of people looking for a natural experience.

Spent a week in a condo in HMB and was very positively surprised. Unlike many other beaches and locations in the area, this is a quiet, peaceful and extremely beautiful place. No people to sell you stuff, no wind - just a slight breeze -,...More

Our rental was @ half moon bay. I was told that it gets very busy, it did not. The views are magnificent. The beach is calm and shallow for probably 10 meters. The snorkeling was not as good as I was told, I barely saw...More

All beaches in Mexico are free, including Half Moon Bay. Although there is an area at the far end of HMB that is a feeding ground for turtles, I only saw one, and I snorkeled there for over a week. You will definitely see... More

Where we went it seemed small, protected, and out of the way. I am not sure that I would go wandering through any of the cities but I have no trepidation about going to out of the way beaches or historical sites.
