The scale, grandeur and beauty of Stowe has inspired writers, philosophers, artists, politicians and members of the public from the 18th century to the present day. Since the National Trust acquired the gardens in the late 1980s, an ambitious programme of restoration has ensured that over 40 temples and monuments remain, gracing an inspiring backdrop of lakes and valleys with an endless variety of walks and trails, a delightful visit, any time of year.

lovely to share Stowe with friends for a stroll - buuuuut I do get fed up with the way the National Trust gives a 'gift aid' fee which is higher than the 'ordinary' fee, and which one has to enquire about explicitly to get. The...More

My wife has walking difficulties, so we decided to visit Stowe and tour the wonderful gardens and see the follies. This was a wonderful visit made better with the use of use of the electric vehicles available and the excellent visitor centre

Amazing gardens with statues, buildings and enclaves around every corner. A certain grecian quirkiness awaits you during your visit. Walked almost 5 miles around the grounds. The cafe was busy, but food was good. Highly recommended, give at least 3 hours to visit. You can...More

There lots of places to picnic, just choose where you like the look of. There are toilets within the grounds, they are near the Chinese House
