While my wife and Daughter were shopping, I was babysitting my 10 year old Grandson, after playing with him on his games console for a while I suggested going for a walk, I don't know Wisbech very well so I asked my grandson what we should do. Let's go to the museum he said, Hmm I thought I've never heard... More

The museum is a collection going back to the 1840s of curiosities, minerals, fossils, Roman, Egyptian, and Medieval antiquities and coins and more, with some nice gatherings of local lore as well. The net result is that you are looking at the artifacts, but also in their original 150-yar old display and context, which is really special. Nice display on... More

Friends came to visit so we decided on a trip to the museum. We were not disappointed. So much to see we will have to go back again later.

Wisbech Museum was opened in the 1840s and still has much of its original furnishings. It also has something of the original ethos, and has an eclectic range of displays. European porcelain, a case of minerals, a small collection of Egyptian artifacts, local fossils very nicely displayed with a clear timeline and explanations, a case devoted to a local hero... More

This small local museum is worth visiting every few months. There are a range of treasures from all over the world. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and can help you find something new. During the school holidays they provide activities for children so there is always something to do.

At first it seems very small and first exhibition is not something special. but when you pass that - it get's really interesting. There is all kind of material - from Egyptian mummy body parts and mummy cats to 20th centuries home tools. The best part - it is free. There is a souvenir shop when you enter/leave, but it... More

I remember museums like this ..... display cases packed full of exhibits with labelling that often leave you guessing. I was totally absorbed for over an hour and I know that when I go back I will see treasures that I've missed. The collection of porcelain figures is exceptional and the original Victorian interior is a joy in itself. Sadly,... More

Had a job finding it at the start, but a lovely Eastern European man in a shellsuit, drinking a couple of cans of beer in the near by park gave me directions by pointing his finger. Got to say the Museum was wonderful though. Lots of interesting displays on offer. The mummified hand will give my 6 year old nightmares... More
